Grandpa Is an Old Man

As far as I can remember, grandpa had been an old man.

He was so old, as if never had been young.

He was so old, as if was born to be my grandpa.

Although I never contemplated that he would die eventually.

I always thought: one could alway linger one year more, despite their oldness.

Yet he died anyway.

As mud walls:

with enough storms, the demise is guaranteed.

Gone.

Finished.

I know few about his past life.

He mentioned some; I forgot most.

Just like he loves me much,

I call him 'Grandpa' in return.

As far as I can remember, grandpa hads been an old man.

He was so old, as if wasit was as if he was only born to be my grandpa.

AlthoughBut I never contemplatedseriously thought that he would die eventuallone day.

I always thought: that one could always linger one year more, despite their oldnessregardless of their age.

Just like with courtyard walls of piled earth, with enough storms, they will eventually collapse.

I know few about his pastlittle of his life.

He mentioned some things; I forgot most.

I
I only called him 'Grandpa' in return.

Yeah, my 爷爷 has passed for a decade. Sometimes I really wish I could've spent more time with him. And thank you for the polishing and everything!

Thank you. Yes, it's a Chinese poem I saw before. It did an impact on me when I read it, so I thought I could try to translate it into English.
