My grandma is ninety-ish. She went out a lot before the Covid-19 pandemic. In the begginning of the pandemic, she wanted to go out so bad. It took a long time for her to be a couch potatoes. We started to teach her how to use phone for surfing on the net in order to ease her anxious. She is a fast learner. She soon knows how to search news and chat with friends on wechat. Since then, she spends some time on the phone, around 2 hours for each day. And now, She is glued to her phone like most of us young people.
The positive side is she has something to kill the time and she is able to keep in touch with her friends who live aborad. They can meet via video calls. There are no time or space limited.
But the negative saide is that she is suffering from the neck-pain and eyesores. We told her to go out more and rest more. But she is so addicted.
We believe that she is in her second childhood.

In the begginning of the pandemic, she wanted to go out so badly.
Technically, "so badly" is correct, but in all honesty, native speakers (like me) disregard that rule and say "so bad" in these cases anyway. But, better that you learn the rules first
It took a long time for her to learn to be a couch potatoes.
We started to teach her how to use her phone for surfing on the net in order to ease her anxiousety.
I think the word "restlessness" would be more appropriate than "anxiety" based on the description of your grandma wanting to leave the house

Cute story! I hope she can find more ergonomic ways to use her phone to reduce her pain.
InAt the begginning of the pandemic, she wanted to go out so bad.
"When the pandemic hit she couldn't stand staying inside." this makes it sound more natural
usually when we say "x......so bad...." we do something like this, EX: She wanted to go out so bad that she ended up ignoring the rules and snuck out on her own.
