Living a Simple Life
Even if I were to win a large amount of money in the lottery, I would still want to live a simple life. When I watch YouTube, I almost always see the same commercials. In Japan today, there seems to be a growing number of households living in poverty, especially single mothers raising children on their own. Some children are not even able to eat enough, and they feel they have to say things like, “Mom, I ate a lot at school lunch today, so I’m not hungry anymore.”
In a capitalist society like Japan, businesses naturally focus on getting consumers to buy products and services in order to make money. Of course, buying goods and providing services are important, but I personally want to live frugally.
I believe that an ideal society is one where people do not feel a large gap between the rich and the poor. While Japan, as a capitalist country, does have economic inequality, I think what I can do is not envy the wealthy and instead live modestly and save money.
I am not wealthy myself, but if I happen to see a child, I would like to offer a warm, genuine smile without expecting anything in return.
