"long" always comes before "thin" ... I don't know why it just does.

I wouldn't say threads and needs are "from nature" since metal needles take a lot of work to make. I'd probably say: "Everything we used for our fishing gear was gathered locally." or "Everything we needed to go fishing we could get from home." etc
