日本の学校では文学を勉強しますか？今日は「Ozymandias」という高校で勉強した詩をなんとなく思い出しました。詩によると、Ozymandiasは古くて厳しい王で、治めた人に大きな像を建てさせました。「王の王です」などの自慢いっぱいの言葉は像の碑文に書かれました。詩の内容は数年後起こります。詩の中で、旅行者は砂漠に像を見ますが、その時は像がかなり崩れてしまいました。像の状態は碑文に書かれた言葉を対比します。人生のはかなさについて詩だと思います。読みながら、出る気持ちが好きですが、高校生の時に分析したり文章を書いたりするのは少し嫌でした。文学を勉強するのなら、どんなことを勉強しますか？

Do you study literature at school in Japan? For some reason, today I remembered a poem called "Ozymandias" that I learned about at school. According to the poem, Ozymandias was a cruel and ancient king who made his subjects build a large statue of himself. Things like "king of kings" and other boastful words were written on the statue's inscription. The contents of the poem take place many years after this. In the poem, a traveller sees the statue in the desert, but at this point it has crumbled quite a lot. The condition of the statue contrasts the words written on the inscription. I think that it is a poem about the transience of life. I like how it makes me feel when I read it, but as a student I didn't really enjoy analysing it or writing essays about it.
