B: Is there any way to tell the difference?
A: I have never paid attention to it before, but if there is a sign that says "IC" somewhere like this, it might be for IC cards only. If there is no sign, or if it says "ticket" somewhere, I think you can put in a ticket.
B: I see. Then may I go through here?
A: Sure.
B: Oh, okay. Nice.
A: Good for you. Have a nice day!
