I usually bring these things for my trip abroad.
First and the most important one is my smart phone.
Unlike my first trip, maps, local guides even other informations are possible to use by my phone.
After getting an USIM chip at the destination country, I can use all of them just like I am in my country.
The next thing I bring is some medicines.
I have an upset stomach sometimes, so I should take the medicines every time.
For other emergency situations like headache and jet leg, I also take them.
The last thing is my previous camera.
As you may know, only pictures remain after trips.
I totally agree this sentence, and I take lots of pictures during traveling.
With the pictures, I can remember my good memories at there.

You're technically correct because 'an' should be used before a word starting with a vowel. However, it sounds unnatural here. I can't really explain this - sometimes words that start with a vowel sound strange with 'an' and sound better with an 'a.' I think it's something that you will notice and pick up over time. Or maybe you will find a better explanation, haha. :)
