In April 1989, after 4 years working in another city, I was transferred to my home city, Fuyang.
Before I went back to the city, I had heard that my new workplace was a little far from the city, but I thought it would not be too far because it was a department directly under the county.
When I went back to the city, I didn't go straight to my new work unit because I had to deal with some transfer documents first, so I stayed in a hotel the early few days.
After I finished those documents, I rode a bike to my new work place, which is located in the south of the city.
When I came to a place called Liulipeng, I was already out of the city. I thought I should have arrived, but I didn't. I continued to ride to the south, then I came to a place called Qilibei, but it was still not the place that my department was at.
I rode south for a little while and turned to the left. When I came to a village, I was thinking that the new workplace should be there, but it still wasn't. Then I kept riding to the East. After I rode through the next village, I saw a big yard surrounded by walls.
Yes, it was my new workplace and it was really far from the city.
Although it was only 5 kilometers from the city, in the late 80 s, the roads were really bad, not paved and not smooth, so it was hard to ride.
In 2020, my former work unit was merged, and the work place was bought by a real estate group to develop a residential community. Also, I was transferred to my current work unit.
