Encountered a Person

I didn’t expect it to be so challenging to get to Lake Okutama (a reservoir). The mountain roads were winding, and I had to turn the steering wheel right and left as I climbed. It was pretty exhausting.

For lunch, I ate soba at a restaurant called "Jinya". It came with mountain vegetables on the side. It was delicious.
The owner didn’t seem particularly friendly at first, but when I said, "It was delicious. Is there anything you’re especially particular about in your cooking?" .
Hhe opened up and talked with me quite warmly.

He even told me some of the local history, and by the end of our conversation, I discovered that one of his samurai ancestors had served under one of my ancestors, General Takeda. It was just a soba shop I entered by chance, but it turned out to be a truly memorable encounter.
