El reído
El cuarto donde finalmente lo encontraron estuvo tan frío que preguntaron al principio si hubiera congelado hasta la muerte. La cara tan blanco como nieve, la piel tan fría como escarcha, los labios tan azules como hielo. Su expresión a la policía pareció perfectamente pacífica. Como si hubiera fallecido en la mitad de un sueño muy agradable.
Excepto la sangre.
Sangre siempre cuenta su propia historia.
The room where they at last found him was so cold, they wondered at first if he had frozen to death. Face as white as snow, skin as cold as frost, lips as blue as ice. His expression seemed, to the police, perfectly peaceful. As if he had passed away in the middle of a very lovely dream.
Except for the blood.

Initially I didn't understand your title, but I saw one of your other posts in French, which is the same thing as this one. In that other one, you wrote Le Royaume, which translates to El Reino in Spanish.

In general, imperfect should be used for background actions or actions that contribute to the overall story; while the pretérito pasado should be used for main actions that "puncture" that canvas painting a picture.
