What critical thinking skills do I need to develop?
There is a tendency for students who come from foreign country with another academic culture to Europe to have a poor score for their essays. Probably, because of an arguing with authoritative opinion is inappropriate there. They do not grow up in an environment where the children are taught to form a critical thinking. However, it is the most important skill and students should know how to apply it. A critical thinking it is not just a listing of facts, or quotations; it is an ability to analyze and evaluate why and how something is happened. Firstly, a big challenge for student is learning how not to afraid having contravention position about majority’s opinion or some expert’s opinion. Even experts cannot be right always. Secondly, every time when students read the books they have to reflect about the topic and how does it correlate with their own opinion. Finally, analyzing all sources and evidence and combine them with own idea give a good outcome.
