One man roughly says Japanese education doesn't need to instruct almost all the subjects to mediocre students because they all cannot do explain even easy and mathematically rudimentary definitions or theorems even after graduation of a high school, etc. But I don't think so, and probably that thought is not only mine, many people would also think so.
You cannot know which skill or knowledge in your future might be helpful for you. When you were a child, even if you were good at math, but after growing up, you may abruptly get to like or need other subject such as English. Or you may need knowledge of multiple subjects. Or all of a sudden, you might be aware of your hidden prominent skill in certain field and pave the way to something, or accomplish a feat to impact the society.
In addition, our society is very complex and closely tied with one another. Even going into one field, deep into it, you would gradually be aware of the need of understanding other fields to further proceed.
Everyone has its certain strengths and weaknesses. Even though studying a certain subject is painful for you, that can be a good training in many viewpoints, such as your patience, the development of your brain and emotion, the ability of solving the problems, group discussing, collaborative attitude with others, implementing a homework until the completion within the deadline, etc.
I am able to say many things around this topic. I know, of course, that person is kind of an extremist about it. So in an actual world, I might not have needed to counter them. But for my English improvement, I just wrote this.
But I have to end here. There might be a next time, or might not. Thank you very much.
