Education in Russia

When a person in Russia leaves school, them picks up some subjects to take exams, which called EGE. Russian and maths are mandatory exams and some other exams a pupil chooses based on his preferred qualification. There is a level which a learner has to overcome to pass an exam. If you get good grades, you can get a place at many universities.
I don`t like this system, because a person depends on random variants and personal tastes of EGE-experts. It doesn`t much matter in case of such subjects as maths, but literature, English and history have rather blurred criteria. Also school system and EGE system are differrent, so while you are wasting time for school you haven`t it to revise for exams. You must decide which subjects you need in advance, before February 1, and enrol on appropriate exams, so you haven`t opportnity to change you mind and elect another subject in the university.
Earlier it was organized differently. Pupils sat final exams at the end of school and then took entrance exams at universities. Every university had it`s own exams. You could go to do an university exams to keep your friend company, recieve good grades and get a place at the university. Now you haven`t this possibility.
Nowadays most degree courses in the Russia last 4 years, although some take longer. A person sucseeded four-year course named a bachelor, and a person awarded a diploma after five-year learning named a specialist.
Usually in Russia you elect faculty and direction, not courses. There are many mandatory courses on any direction of learning every year. You have set programme of 10-15 subjects for every year of learning and you can enrol on only 2-4 courses ad lib.
When a person became a bachelor or a specialist, he can get a job or keep on his education. Although the most of students start a career already during their learning.

That`s not all, but I`ve get tired)

Is there synonyms for 'get to university'? I can`t correlate that with Russian word, may be different variants.

Does the appropriate collacation completely sounds as 'sit for exam(s)'? ('Sit exam' I also got from text-book)

Oh, we don't choose teachers! We only choose a direction (learning pass?) like, for example, English filology or Ancient history, and then we have a shedule from adminitration with mandatory subjects and teachers. I have doubts about 'learning pass', because I know similar phrase in Russian and it means something different, more general and free than what about I say.

"get to" is another word for "reach"/"arrive at"

enroll takes a different preposition depending on what comes after. see here for reference https://tinyurl.com/6cj4kyc8
