The Crow and the Peacock

Once upon a time, there was a crow that was very dissatisfied with its life.
It often stood on a branch, looking at its black feathers.
And the more it thought about them, the sadder it felt.
It thought it was not beautiful, its voice was not pleasant and wherever it went, it was not welcomed.
So every day, it felt gloomy and unhappy.
Always thinking that it was the most unfortunate bird in the world.
One day, the crow sat in a tree and began to cry.
A monk happened to be sitting under the tree.
One of the crow's tears fell on the monk's face, the monk looked up and saw it, then asked: "Why are you crying so sadly?"
The crow said, "I hate who I am now, my entire body is black and my voice sounds terrible, I want to become another bird."
After hearing this, the monk said: "I can help you, if you truly want to become another bird, but before that, you should first go and ask the birds you envy whether they are truly happy."
So the crow flew to the zoo and saw a peacock surrounded by many people.
Every time the peacock spread its tail feathers, waves of admiration rose from the crowd.
The crow said to the peacock: "You must be the happiest bird in the world."
After hearing this, peacock said: "Every day people come to see me and praise me for being beautiful, but I've lost my freedom."
The peacock contuined: "In my eyes, the truly happy bird is you, because you don't have to be locked in a cage."
After hearing this, the crow said nothing for a long time.
It suddenly understood that it had always been envying others but had never seen what it already had.
It envies peacock's beauty but it had forgotten that it possessed the most precious thing of all: freedom.
From then on, the crow no longer complained about its black feathers.
It spread its wings and flew toward the vast sky.
For the first time, it felt that being itself could also be very happy.
