To answer your question, I actually needed to do a little research, but cartoons and animations differ in their appearance and occasionally their message, more so than their audience. Before doing any research though, I thought of cartoons as being the ones that are more intended for kids (and I think that is still true to an extent, because they are typically simpler in style and more for entertainment than for a really deep and meaningful message)

However that doesn’t really make the most sense because with that meaning, the two clauses don’t feel particularly connected, so I’m assuming you meant your country, for which you could say “even though it’s not popular where I live”.
