All the doors and windows had been locked in my house.
There had been no one there.
But the door in my room was opened.
This kind of situation happens often in my house.
There is probably a ghost in my house.

But the door into my room was opened.
"However" is also ok. It sounds more formal than "but." I think "but" suits your journal fine. Both are correct though.
This kind of situationthing happens often in my house.
