I've been reading the book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" for years.
I always find a difficulty of reading it because I find four or five phrases that I don't know almost every page.
Whenever I come across new phrases I have to look it up.
However, last week, I read about 20 pages.
That was quite a few for me.
I had never read that many pages.
Actually, I didn't look up any new phrases.
I just guessed meanings through context.
I still have a quarter left, but I just know I can finish reading it within this year.

I think that's good you tried to read without looking up every new phrase! For me, when I read Japanese books, it can be good sometimes to look up every new phrase, but it takes a lot of time, so I can't read many pages. If I don't look up everything, I feel like I can read a lot more pages and improve more at reading.

Your grammar was correct but I feel like this is a bit closer to your native text

How nostalgic, I used to read it a lot as a kid. Just a heads up, there are technically some incorrect grammar in there because it's trying to imitate the writing style of a teen boy, but they are all very natural phrases to use colloquially.

"Actually" wouldn't be used here! The sentence makes sense without that word as well, but you can add something like "This time" to explain it better
