Diary: Local Gods

Today I listened to a podcast about local gods in my city. I was surprised to find that there are two temples less than 1 km away from my home. Even though I have lived here more than 20 years, I have never heard of them before. One temple worships a god of music, and the other worships a tree. The locals are full of awe of nature. As long as there is an old tree, people will worship it. If the tree is very old, people believe that there is a soul in that place, and a temple will be built there, hoping to be blessed.

One temple worships a god of music, and the other worships a tree.

The locals are full of awe ofrom nature.

As long as there is an old tree, people will worship it.

If the tree is very oldancient, people believe that there is a soul in that place, and a temple will be built there, hoping to be blessed.

I think ancient is a better fitting word for what you meant here, which means thousands of years old or just from a long distant past, which I think the second one fits this context.
