Modern "Chinese" history: "China" is describing the noun ("history") so it needs to take the adjectival form ("Chinese")
Restoring "the" US-China relationship: an article is required before the noun
Following in Mao’s footsteps, he highly valued the US-China relationship.

However he bursted with into anger just several days before the announcement of the establishment of US-China diplomatic establishmentrelations because the US side had mistakenly thought Deng had agreed an an important issue.
The past participle of "burst" is "burst" (and they are both pronounced the same, unlike the present and past of "read"). You can say "burst with", but I think the better choice of preposition is "burst into".
The US had wanted to continue to selling weapons to Taiwan which was strongly opposed by Deng.
Although Deng was very annoyed by this, he had to compromise because he needed the American’s to help to defend China against the Soviet Union and to open and reform China.
