The kanji of the year is announced today. A famous temple called Kiyomizudera in Kyoto announce it in December every year. The kanji chosen was "金" which means "gold". The kanji was chosen because the Tokyo Olympics games were held this year, so I think it is banal. I had predicted another Kanji, "翔".

Very nice word choice with "banal"! I like the kanji you chose a lot more than the one they chose, haha.
