Usually, I have a Chinese class for a girl at 10 am on Sunday morning. It’s a online class. But today the girl called me at 10:05 when I was waiting for her on Zoom. She told me that she just woke up because she had a party last night and she slept very very late. She asked me if the class can start later or cancel. I heard that her voice was unclear. She absolutely didn’t really wake up yet. I don’t think it’ll be a good idea to wait her for I don’t know how much time and probably she will still be sleepy in the class. I thought the best is to cancel the class.

Usually, I haveteach a Chinese class for a girl at 10 am on Sunday mornings.

It’s an online class.

But today the girl called me at 10:05 whilen I was waiting for her on Zoom.

She told me that she had just woken up because she had a party lastthe night before and she sleptwent to bed very very late.

She asked me if the classwe can start the class later or just cancel it.

I heardcan tell that her voice was unclearstill groggy.

She absolutely didn’t reawas not fully awake up yet.

I doidn’t think it’ll would be a good idea to wait her for I don’t know how much time and probablypostpone the class as I didn't know how much time she will need and whether she willould still be sleepy in the class or not.

I thought the best solution is to cancel the class.

The "groggy" is what I tried to use, but I could't find it. Thank you!

Usually, I have a Chinese class for a with a woman|girl at 10 am on Sunday morning.

Unless she's younger than 18, using "girl" instead of "woman" might annoy some people.

If you're teaching the class (which I think is the case here), you could say "I hold a Chinese class for a woman..."

It’s an online class.

But today the woman|girl called me at 10:05 when I was waiting for her on Zoom.

She told me that she had just woken up because she had had a party last night and she slept very very late.

She asked me if the class canould start later or be cancelled.

I could heard that her voice was unclear.

Here, "I heard" suggests a momentary event. But this was something you could hear over time. (This is a subtle point, so you don't need to worry about it too much.)

She absolutely dihadn’t really waoken up yet.

I doidn’t think it’ll would be a good idea to wait her forfor her, since I doidn’t know how much time and probably she willit would take her, and she would probably still be sleepy during the class.

I thought thit would be best is to cancel the class.

Good job!

In English, unlike some other languages, when you're talking about a point in the past in which you were thinking about the future, you need to use the past or conditional:

I DIDN'T think it WOULD BE a good idea.
I thought it WOULD BE best to cancel the class.

I thought it best to cancel the class.

Yes, "I thought it best to cancel the class" would be an alternative to "I thought it would be best to cancel the class."
