Screaming in the street is still socially unacceptable, even if it's technically cheaper than therapy. So we write instead, because even a brain meltdown can be more sophisticated when typed out.
No one asks why we write things like "The ceiling collapsed on me again today, but I'm still fine, thanks." They assume it's a creative self-expression, but sorry, it's just backup. Ctrl+S on the soul. We just hope that by writing it down, we might have something to return to when tomorrow somehow turns out to be even worse than today.
Anyone could know, writing doesn't work during the day. Everyone's bustling, clinking, or trying to conquer Mount Everest in the kitchen with nothing but a frying pan. I could say, "Life can distract our thoughts", but no, it does. Always. Then the night comes, and the only things that stay with me are silence and darkness. Like two loyal friends, right? No more strange noises from the other room, no more impossible expectations from people I don't even know, just me and my own tolerated chaos.
Oh, what? A night owl? Please. I just wait until the world shuts up so I don’t have to fake a functional personality. At night, no one expects me to be “doing great”, I can finally be what I actually am: someone who thinks too much, sleeps too little, and isn’t busy pretending otherwise. I can just exist.
In the end, writing doesn’t solve anything, it just makes my mental chaos look like a well-structured paragraph. I write just because even the biggest mess looks cooler in Times New Roman with 1.5 line spacing.
Day 6: Why do I Write? Because Screaming Is Still Weird
