Day 46: Good Motives

Recently I've been thinking about what is my motive to exercise? Well, I've already have a motive but I don't know if it's a good one. My motivation for exercising is to have a beautiful body and to gain weight. However, that doesn't mean that I want to impress everybody around me, I just want to look better for myself, I suppose. I've heard that a lot of people have "being healthy" as a motive to exercise and that makes me think that I should have the same motive, but I don't have high cholesterol or obesity so that doen't work for me, I think.
Have you ever had "looking better" as a motive to workout?
Thanks for reading and for all of your corrections!

Good job! Personally, I never had "looking better" as a motive, but I can see why so many people do use that for themselves. It depends who you are as a person in the end, I think.

そうですね。First, any reason is a good reason to exercise!

I think getting into the habit of exercising is a good idea. It's kind of like getting used to doing homework for school. If we don't make it a habit when we're young, it might be very hard to get into the habit when we're older and really do need to do homework or exercise. It's easy to take advantage of our health when we're young but, as we get older, we have to work harder to maintain fitness because our muscles atrophy at a faster rate.

Then when we're even older, the question of quality of life becomes more important. Do we really want to take prescription medication for the rest of our lives because of high cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes, etc.? One of my doctors said that my cholesterol levels are lower than hers and I would guess that she was in her 30's at the time so I don't exercise to keep them low. I have a grandchild now so I want to be active for as long as possible for him, too, in addition to being able to sleep well at night.

よく出来ました!

Great job! I think when you're young (and already healthy), working out to look better is everyone's #1 reason. Nothing wrong with that. Then, the older we get, the more we start to prioritize good health.

Thank you so much!!! Your advice was really helpful for me

Day 46: Good Motives

Recently I've been thinking about what is my motive is to exercise?.

This is a statement; therefore do not put a question mark (?).
Word order is normal as it is not a question !

Well, I've already have a motive but I don't know if it's a good one.

“I’ve already got a …”
“I already have a…” one or the other!

My motivation for exercising is to have a beautiful body and to gain weight.

No correction beautiful body is just not something we would say in English, like if you said it to a native they’d think you were joking or were obsessed with vanity. We commonly say, however, ‘good body’. Up to you!

However, that doesn't mean that I want to impress everybody around me, I just want to look better for myself, I suppose.

I've heard that a lot of people have "being healthy" as a motive tofor exerciseing and that makes me think that I should have the same motive, but I don't have high cholesterol or, and I’m not obesitye, so that doen'sn’t work for me, I think.

In English, we say “I’m not fat” “I’m not skinny” “I’m obese” etc, it’s not something we ‘have’.

For exercising needs to be used here as it is the proper usage,
“A lot of people have losing weight as a motive for exercising.”
“A lot of people have being successful as a motive for studying a lot.”

Have you ever had "looking better" as a motive to workoutexercised because you wanted to “look better”?

This is just way more natural!

Thanks for reading and for all of your corrections!
