I agree - it allows you to slow down and think and you get to see your unique handwriting instead of computer fonts

In English class, we're taught not to use "But" at the beginning of sentences. In practice though, many natives still do. If this is an essay for school, you might want to use "However" instead, but if this is just a journal, it's not an issue in my opinion.
