Day 26: The ‘Someday’ That Never Comes

"One day..." We've all said that at least once. One day I'll learn to play the piano. One day I'll travel to Norway. One day I'll write a novel.
Never today or tomorrow, always someday. But someday is always next week, next month, next year. And suddenly, it’s been ten.

Procrastination isn’t always just laziness. Sometimes, there’s just too much noise and too little energy. But maybe we’re also afraid to start because if we start, we can fail. So it feels better and safer to believe we’ll begin... someday.

But time doesn’t wait for us. Our time won’t come on its own. The years don’t shout at us to start living, they just quietly pass, leaving us a little older each time.
And by the time we notice, the piano is just a dusty piece of wood, the passport expired, and the big ideas have faded away.

Maybe it’s time to replace someday with today, just once, and see what happens. Because there may not be a next time. What we keep waiting for might be exactly what we’re losing.
