Day 11: Jacaranda trees

The Jacaranda tree is my favorite tree, because when it blooms its foliage becomes purple and when its flowers fall it leaves a beautiful purple mat (like in the image below). It has also an interesting history in Mexico. A long time ago, at the beginning of the XX century, the president of Mexico asked for Sakura trees to Japan government like a symbol of peace and unity between the two countries. That didn't happen because the weather in Mexico makes impossible for Sakura trees to survive. Tatsugoro Matsumoto (A Japanese gardener who inmigrated to Mexico and opened a flower shop in Mexico City) came up with an idea to solve this problem, he proposed to plant Jacaranda trees instead, which are perfect for the weather of Mexico. He suggested this tree because is so similar to Sakura trees. When sakura trees bloom their foliage becomes withe and pink, the same is for Jacaranda trees however, their foliage becomes purple. Now Jacarandas are popular trees in Mexico, I germinate this trees and one of my personal goals is to plant Jacaranda trees wherever I can.

I enjoyed reading about this lovely history in this informative text. Prepositions are very tricky, to further improve in this writing style, I would recommend reading all kinds of informative text articles of your interests in English, history, plants etc. to help you subconsciously acquire a feel for the right preposition to use. Well done !!!

We typically write "sakura" (or most tree names) uncapitalized, unless there's a proper noun in the name (e.g. Japanese cherry blossom).
