Day 11: Jacaranda tTrees

The Jacaranda tree is my favorite tree, because when it blooms its foliage becomes purple and when all its flowers fall it leaves a beautiful purple mat (like in the image below).

A long time ago, at the beginning of the XX century, the president of Mexico asked for Sakura trees tofrom the Japanese government likeas a symbol of peace and unity between the two countries.

That didn't happen however because the weather in Mexico makesde it impossible for Sakura trees to survive.

Tatsugoro Matsumoto (A Japanese gardener who inmigrated to Mexico and opened a flower shop in Mexico City) came up with an idea to solve this problem, he proposed to instead plant Jacaranda trees instead, which awere perfect for the weather of MexicoMexico’s weather.

He suggested this tree because it is so similar to Sakura trees.

When sakura trees bloom their foliage becomes whithe and pink, the same ias forthe Jacaranda trees however, their foliage becomes purple.

We typically write "sakura" (or most tree names) uncapitalized, unless there's a proper noun in the name (e.g. Japanese cherry blossom).
