IELTS Writing Task 1
The chart illustrates the total number of Olympic medals won by twelve different countries.
We can clearly see that USA is superior in all three kinds of medals. Even the number of gold medals of this country is dramatical more than the total amount of almost all rival countries. If we look at more closely, we can see that USA has approximately 2300 medals.
Sole comparable Country in the chart is Soviet Union. This country has 1000 medals in total and if we compare this two rival countries, we can estimate that USA has more than the double of Soviet Union's total number of medals.
All other ten countries have close number of medals. They are stuck between approximately 450-600 medals. Only United Kingdom is somewhat successful with 600 medals. Other have almost same number of medals in total.
However, it should not be forgotten that all of these countries have low population and located in relatively small geographies.
To sum up, the countries, this have diversified and high population can show more success in the Olympics. Success and of course the number of medals related with the number of athletes of that country.
