My childhood was lived poorly. Back in the seventies, the countryside in China was very poor. We didn’t even have enough food to eat. There were five people in my family: my father and my mother, my two elderly brothers, my younger sister and I. My father worked at a township government. My mother was a farmer. My first big brother was in high school. My second big brother was in middle school. My younger sister and I were in elementary school. I don’t know how to express my living conditions at that time. All in all, everything was backward and poor. We ate leftovers, wore the clothes that our elderly brothers and sisters left. We didn’t have wheat flour or rice to eat. We could only be able to eat sweet potatoes, corn and sorghum, but they were not enough for us. I don’t want to recall the old days anymore. I would cry every time I think of the bad situation in the old days.
