Thanks for your feedback, ekmes! May I ask you two more questions? Firstly (first?), could the verbs "ingrain" and "instill" be interchangeable in this case? Secondly (second?), is "a change of scene" an idiomatic phrase? I saw it in a CAE book.

1. After some thought, I think that they could be interchangeable here.
2. It seems that "change of scene" can mean the same as "change of scenery", but in my experience "change of scenery" is much much more common.

"since they were very young" could also be replaced with "since childhood"
