Could you please correct these sentences?
I need to shift my attention away from sitting on social media towards language learning.
At first, people, in whom conservative beliefs were ingrained/ instilled since very young, were appalled at/by the new law, but later they had a change of heart.
Every now and then, a change of scene is vital to remain on good terms with your family.
Due to the strict parenting, which is present in Chinese culture, kids have a head start in school and further educational institutions.

Thanks for your feedback, ekmes! May I ask you two more questions? Firstly (first?), could the verbs "ingrain" and "instill" be interchangeable in this case? Secondly (second?), is "a change of scene" an idiomatic phrase? I saw it in a CAE book.

1. After some thought, I think that they could be interchangeable here.
2. It seems that "change of scene" can mean the same as "change of scenery", but in my experience "change of scenery" is much much more common.

"since they were very young" could also be replaced with "since childhood"
