Can your mother language be a problem in the second language learning?

This question could have differents interpretations, so I will to explain a particular case.

If the mother language is Castilian, you could to meet with a bit of difficultyt.

One of the advantages of Castilian, and its main inconvenientce in languages learning, is that it only has five vowel sounds.

English, on the other hand, has around 20 differents vowel phonemes, so for the sSpanish students, it could be a handicap.

I'm sure that with practice and motivation, they can going to get a correct pronunciation.

You can also write "achieve a correct pronunciation" which is more suited to the written form. But "get" is acceptable.
