A Comparedison between Canada and Japan

In tThis semester, I took thisa class and I studied a lot of things that compared to Canada and Japan.

I will focus on power distance among all the things that I studied about in this class and I’ll write about this in my final reflection paper.

I could saybelieve that power distance is closely related to individualism.

If it's a belief, you can say 'I believe that' or 'I think that', if this is a fact, you can just start the sentence with 'Power distance...'

I analyzed the power distance isas an inverse to individualism.

Venezuela ranks 5th place in the power distance index, while it ranks 65th place out of 65 countries in individualism.

However, countries that were inat the bottom of the Power Distance Index were in individualism, they were at the top of the index for individualism.

Especially, that anglophone countries such as the U.S., Canada, Australia and the U.K. Western countries rank higher than Asian countries within regard to individualism.

In fact, Asian countries puts duty the seniority including Jap, including Japan, consider duty to be more important.

In contrast, Western countries tend to be the merituse a merit-based system.

I think thisese results are related to national characteristics.

In the United States, which has the highest indivdualism index, they cannot be active without their own opinions.

Not sure what you mean by 'active'. That might be my lack of understanding of this area of study! Perhaps 'They cannot be productive without the ability to share their own opinions' ?

In the U.S., positiveness is one of the most important things for them so, in our image of American people, they are very friendly and the majority of people are extroverts.

I canwould say Canada is also the same situationsimilar.

As the background, in Japanese society, there is a tendency to be in tune with others rather than to be proactive.

It’s anmore important environment to consider how the other person feels more thanthan to be self-assertiveness so their character is a little bit different from friendly.

Although sometimes foreign people say the national character isJapanese people are typically polite.

While there is no right or wrong between power level indicates, but in my opinion, a low power distance is better than a high one because mostly, in these countries, people can mostly maintain a healthy work life balance.

For example, they can easy toily get childcare leave, sick leave and paid leave.

The environment is made that pay off all owno reward hard work.

In conclusion, I wereas able to find differences between Canada and Japan.

I felt it related to the social factors.

While Canada is a multi national country and accepts many immigrants.

There iIt has a mixture of cultures and customs from various countries.

As a result, I feelt that it creates an environment wherein which people can work comfortably is being created.

Both countries hasve advantages over each other but I believe that Japan needs to be more flexible in its thinking, and, while respecting tradition, it also needs to innovate for a better society.
