Now, ten of my classmates when I was in technical secondary school were in the same city.
Two or three years ago, a couple of my teachers came to the city l live in now, and one of my classmates treated them to a meal at the hotel. That classmate invited me and other classmates to attend the meal.
At the meal, that classmate said to me, "although we are in the same city, we don't meet each other often. That is a pity." I said,"we can offer a gathering meal monthly in turns." He thought this was a good idea and asked the other students to reach an agreement.
The other classmates all supported this proposal. So we set up a WeChat group and made a rule that every month a classmate was supposed to offer a meal according to the sort order in the group.
A classmate was a female. We have hardly seen her since we graduated. Obviously, she didn't want to get in touch with us often. So we didn't invite her in.
So only ten classmates (including me) joined the activity. Among us, only one classmate was female.
Today's lunch was offered for this month by a classmate. Only eight classmates attended the meal. One male classmate and that female classmate didn't attend the meal for personal reasons.
Next month is my turn. I need to plan which restaurant I should book, and what Chinese liquor I should offer or something like that.
Now, ten of my classmates from when I was in technical secondary school weare in the same city as me.
I've edited my correction based on your reply below. Gabriella's correction is also good.
Two or three years ago, a couple of my teachers came to theour city l live in now, and one of my classmates treated them to a meal at the[a | their] hotel.
Since it's the same city you mentioned in the previous sentence, just say "this city" or "our city." In your original wording, it sounded like the city in this sentence was NOT the city mentioned in the previous sentence.
So we set up a WeChat group and made a ruleagreed that everyach month a classmate was supposed to offer a meal according toone of us would host a meal, taking turns in the sort order in theder our names are listed in the WeChat group.
根据他们在微信群里的排列顺序 would be “the order their names are listed in the WeChat group.” I don’t know how WeChat works, but if the names are sorted alphabetically based on the pinyin spelling, then you could simply say “in alphabetical order.”
