When I was in middle school, a "table tennis table" was out of my classroom. In fact, it was not a real table tennis table, it was constructed with bricks and cement according to what a real table tennis table looked like.
However, it was the table tennis table I first saw and started playing with. Back then, China was very backward, let alone the countryside in China. My classmates and I couldn't afford a pair of rackets.
A student in my class was an exception. His family was a little rich, I think, because his father had a job working in a state-owned company. He had a pair of rackets, but the racket was only made of wooden board, not like the racket nowadays that has rubber on it.
Although the racket was very simple and shabby, we saw it as a treasure. Whenever it was break time, we were all competing to get the chance to play table tennis. Sometimes, when the student who had a racket was absent, we used our textbooks to play it.
Since then, I have started to love playing table tennis.
