Binomial Pairs

Today, I learned how to call these words that are made of similar two words: pick and choose, carrot and stick, the hustle and bustle, yes and no, wine and dine, pins and needles, and fast and furious. They are binomial pairs.

Here are some sentences that I wrote for memorizing these binomial pairs.
I want to get away from the hustle and bustle in the city.
She wined and dined us.
We were in pins and needles.
The discussion was fast and furious from start to finish.

Thank you for reading!

Here are some sentences that I wrote forto help with memorizing these binomial pairs.

I want to get away from the hustle and bustle inof the city.

"hustle and bustle" is a characteristic OF a city, rather than a thing that happens IN a city.

She wined and dined us.

It's not wrong but it is not how it would be used by a native speaker. Generally if someone "wines and dines" you, they are either showing off or they are being nice to you before asking you for a huge favour.

We were ion pins and needles.

ON because the idea is that you are (metaphorically) sitting on "pins and needles".

The discussion was fast and furious from start to finish.
