Barley Tea 麦茶
In summer, I usually go for barley tea. In contrast, during the winter and spring seasons, I naturally gravitated toward green tea. The roasted aroma of barley tea gives off real summery vibes and feels so refreshing. Green tea tastes best when freshly brewed, but its flavor and color fade quickly. On the other hand, barley tea stays tasty even after several hours, so I brew a big pot in the morning and enjoy it throughout the day. Another thing I like about barley tea is that it’s caffeine-free, so I can even drink it before going to bed. On a hot day, nothing feels more like summer than coming home and drinking a glass of barley tea packed with ice.
夏になるといつも麦茶を飲んでいる。春の間は緑茶のほうが好きだったが、麦茶のほうが夏らしい香ばしさですっきり飲める。緑茶は淹れたてがおいしく、そのうち風味も色も落ちてしまう。それに対し、緑茶はしばらくおいておいても味が落ちることがないので、朝、たくさん作ってその日一日飲んでいる。麦茶にはカフェインが入っていないから夜寝る前にも飲めるのもいい。暑い日に外から帰ってきたとき、たくさん氷を入れた麦茶を飲むのは、典型的な夏って感じだ。
