I like my steaks juicy and medium-rare.
Usually my friends are the ones that invite me since they're more outgoing and own grills.
Although I like cooking, grilling steaks is something I'm still trying to improve on. I'll get it correct a good amount of times, at worst I tend to overcook a bit and it's medium instead of medium rare which isn't the worst thing.
I love eating things like potato salad or mashed potatoes at BBQs. Macaroni & cheese is also really good. Sometimes, people will have chips and soda as well. You also can't forget about things like BBQ sauce which have plenty of flavors to choose from.
I can't really rank them, but favorite cuts are NY Strip, Ribeye, and T-Bone.

Here in Brazil we usually eat a salad with cutted cherry and normal tomato, lettuce, cabbage, and onion along with BBQ. We also eat cooked cassava and put lemon and some kind of pepper both on salad and steak. Industrial garlic bread is also done on grills.

Sticks with bacon, chicken or beef are also options to roast at grills.

This is unfortunately a pretty steak specific idiom and there's only certain ways it's valid.
I prefer well-done or medium-rare steak.
Note that usually there's "medium" steak in between "medium rare" and "well-done". Maybe you already knew that, I just wonder if you meant your two favourite styles to be close together.

Personally, I tend to go for medium rare in restaurants, but at home I tend to go for well done. I'm not a good cook, so I don't trust myself not to undercook it when aiming for medium rare.
