yesterday
Before coming to the Czech Republic, I told M that we would be staying at the Hilton Hotel in Prague, and she told me that there was a monument on the premises that her grandfather had created. It seemed to be a memorial dedicated to Czech people who died during World War II.
I had tried to find the monument the morning before, but couldn’t locate it. So she kindly showed me where it was.
When I asked, “Why did your grandfather create this memorial?” she replied, “I was still child at the time, so I don’t really know.” We took a commemorative photo in front of the monument.
Although it was only a short time—about an hour—I was glad that we were able to deepen our friendship.

Glad you had a wonderful time in the Czech republic!

The following sentence opens with a conjunction, which is not recommended, so join the 2 sentences.
Also, the narration jumps from "before coming to Czechia" to "the morning before...", before what? There is ambiguity in this jump. You could instead better explain it as follows:
"On the day of our arrival, I had tried to find the monument...." "The following day, she kindly showed ..."
Using the phrase "the morning before" is fine if you have already introduced the day/event it comes before. Otherwise, the reader will be left wondering what the morning is before.
S... locate it, so she kindly showed me where it was.
... locate it, so she kindly showed me where it was.
It is not recommended to start sentences with conjunctions like so, and, but, etc.
It is better to write it as one sentence.

'child' is a noun, so you should use the article 'a' before it.
If you used an adjective, you would not use an article. Eg.:
"I was still young at the time..."
Although it was only for a short time—about an hour—I was glad that we were able to deepen our friendship. Although it was only for a short time—about an hour—I was glad that we were able to deepen our friendship.
You should also specify what 'it' is. It could be your trip to Czechia, or your stay at that particular hotel, or even merely the walk around the premises to find the monument.

Very good attempt, and generally well written. Keep it up!
