I believe most of Chinese have been taught as "Humans are inherently good" when they were kids including me. plus, It's not a surprise if you heard an elder ask you to render good for evil. When I grew up, I got to know that's not the same in some other countries.
I am not a Christian but my idea will inevitably connect to some religion, I hope my understanding will be all right but not guaranteed.
A real Christian in Christian countries; believes people are born inherently bad, they repent before the priests, earn money to be rich enough then give back to the poor, loyal to their partner, render good to virtuous and of course bad to evil. Humans were bad when giving birth to the world, so must be regulated or they will bad things to fill their selfishness. So they produce very detailed laws and regulations to limit people's behaviors.
