This spring, I handed over my responsibility of the kitchen, my "castle" for about 50 years, to my husband because I had felt unwell and stayed in hospital for 45 days.
Before my hospitalization, I had never seen him cook. However, I was amazed taking a look at the kitchen shortly after being discharged. It was sparklingly shiny! There was a small brand-new pot there, making me assume that he cooked all by himself while I was out.
As I haven't completely recovered, he has continued to cook. When I arrive home after my morning walk, he has already started preparing breakfast. Soon after coming back from the hospital, I felt anxious to wait and see how he cooked while I was watching TV. Nevertheless, all I could do was just watch him very carefully because it was difficult for me to help him back in those days.
His cooking skills were so incredible that I became inclined to ask him why he had not shown his talent before. His specialty dish is stewed vegetables. After the meals, he quickly does the dishes and wipes down water drops in the sink.
Changing the ownership of the "castle" allowed me to notice the true feelings of my husband. The new lord of the "castle" takes good care of me. I just want to express my heartfelt appreciation for him.
