Another Ancient Village in Anhui

Today, I want to talk about the second village along the hiking trail I traveled in Anhui Province during the mid-autumn holiday.

It's called Mulihong, 木梨硔mù lí hóng.

It's a small village dating back to the Ming Dynasty. About 52 families live there nowadays. You can see their houses in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nd3ZLpyPd5A

The character 硔 means a large valley in Chinese, so you can imagine the natural environment around this village.

Its most amazing feature is the cloud sea in front of the houses. But we didn't visit there at the best time. You can only see a little cloud sea in that video.

We spent the night in a B&B in the village. It was totally worth it because we viewed a marvelous show of sunset clouds at dusk and some cloud sea the next morning.

Another AncientOld Village in Anhui

The Ming dynasty began in 1368, which is more recent than what is typically called “ancient.” In Western history, “ancient” often refers to things that came before the end of the Western Roman Empire, which happened in a.d. 476.

Today, I want to talk about the second village [along the hiking trail I traveled | on the route I hiked] in Anhui Province during the mid-autumn holiday.

Your original wording sounds like you followed a single footpath path that passed all three villages. If, instead, you chose a series of trails that took you from village to village, my suggested wording would work better.

Did you hike/walk the whole way between all three villages? If not, you could change “the route I hiked” to “the route I followed.”

It's called Mulihong, (木梨硔, mù lí hóng).

It's a small village [dating back to | that dates from] the Ming Dynasty.

Your original isn’t wrong, but my suggestion feels more natural to me.

About 520 families live there nowadays.

“About 52” would usually mean “between approximately 51.5 and 52.5.” But since families aren’t measured in fractions, you need to use a round number like 50, which would usually mean something like “between 45 and 55 families.”

You can see their houses in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nd3ZLpyPd5A The character 硔 means a large valley in Chinese, so you can imagine the natural environment around this village.

Its most amazing feature is the cloud sea sea of clouds [in front of the houses | that can sometimes be seen from the village].

Since many of your readers may be unfamiliar with this phenomenon, it might be better to explain what a “cloud sea” or “sea of clouds” is: an expanse of clouds can look like a body of water (a “sea” made of clouds) when viewed from a vantage point that is high enough to be above the clouds.

But we didn't visit there at the best time (for viewing this weather phenomenon).

You can only see a littlesmall “sea of cloud seas” in that video.

We spent the night in a B&B in the village.

It was totally [worth it] because we viewed a marvelous show of sunset clouds at dusk and somesunset and a small “sea of cloud seas” the next morning.

“Worth it” sounds odd, because it seems to imply that you made some sort of worthwhile sacrifice by staying there, but you haven’t told us what the sacrifice was. For example, “it was expensive but worthwhile,” or “it was totally worth the effort.”

“Dusk” is when the sky turns dark, a while after sunset, so you typically can’t see any “sunset clouds” at dusk.

Feedback

The view looks great in the video. Thanks for sharing it.

About 52 families live there nowadayscurrently.

Or more natural: "Currently, around 50 families live there currently"
When using "about" and "around" saying an exact number (like 52 instead of 50) can sound a little awkard since "about" and "around imply an estimate or a guess and "52" or "67" sounds very exact.
However, it's not incorrect.

You can see their houses in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nd3ZLpyPd5A

The character 硔 means
"a large valley" in Chinese, so you can imagine the natural environment around this village.

Its most amazing feature is the cloud sea in front of the houses.

I had to look up "cloud sea", is that an actual sea or a many clouds? If it is "many clouds" then a "sea of clouds" sounds much more natural.

But we didn't visit there at the best time.

You can only see a little of the sea of cloud seas in that video.

We spent the night in a B&B in the village.

ItThe trip was totally worth it because we viewed a marvelous show of sunset clouds at dusk and some sea of cloud seas the next morning.

"marvelous show of sunset clouds" is very stylistic and grand sounding. It could sound awkward to some.
I would write "...we viewed a marvelous sunset through the colorful clouds at dusk and..."

(I removed the first "it" because it is not completely obvious what "it" is referring to. Is "it" for spending the night or for the whole trip?
