An Earthquake
This afternoon when I was taking a nap, there was an earthquake. As you know, earthquakes are not rare in Japan. The epicenter was far from where I live, so the shaking wasn't big. However, I live on the ninth floor of an apartment. The shaking was amplified compared to the ground. I'm sure this building is safe but I felt a little scared.

When you say "the ninth floor of an apartment", it sounds like your apartment (the part of the building that you own or rent) has multiple floors, but in reality it's the building that consists of many floors and your apartment is just a part of it.
The shaking was amplified compared to the ground.
I'm sure this building is safe but I felt a little scared.
