Recently, I read a piece of classical Chinese writing.
It was written by Yuan Haowen, a great literatus in the Yuan Dynasty, to describe the deeds of two officials from Xingzhou (now Xingtai, Hebei Province) and the hydraulic expert Guo Shoujing in managing the three rivers in the north of the city and restoring the Yu Rang Stone Bridge.
This article reminded me of my trips to Tongji Yan this year and Dujiang Yan a few years ago. These two trips enabled me to deeply understand the determination of ancient Chinese people to transform their homeland, as well as the continuous inheritance of this spirit from generation to generation.

Recently, I read a piece of classical Chinese writing.
It was written by Yuan Haowen, a great literatusintellectual in the Yuan Dynasty, to describe the deeds of two officials from Xingzhou (now Xingtai, Hebei Province) and the hydraulic expert Guo Shoujing in managing the three rivers in the north of the city and restoring the Yu Rang Stone Bridge.
“Literatus” is used much less frequently than the plural “literati.” How about “intellectual” instead?
Note: “IN the north of the city” means they did this work inside the city limits. “To” the north of the city would mean it was outside the city limits, on the city’s north side.

"Literatus" is a very uncommon word, so I corrected it to "literary mind". Also, the wording of this sentence is quite complicated, so I split it into two sentences and reworded the latter half to sound more natural. Here it is:
