Ask for a half-day leave

The weather forecast says it will snow this afternoon. On Friday there usually has a heavy traffic, because many people go out of my work city this day. I think the snow will make the traffic get heavier, then my commute time will get too long and the driving will prove me to be exhausting. So I am planning to ask for a half-day leave this afternoon, so I can avoid the heavy traffic.
