It's one of main gauges in the cockpit. This equipment operates base on the difference between static pressure and total pressure. The former is detected by the static system which is mounted at the front part of the fuselage, with a tiny hole to let the air flow into the chamber. The latter is detected by the pitot which is also mounted adjacently to the nose. The particularity of this pitot is that the air goes into it is not only the static air surrending the airplane, but also some of the air that accelerated relatively by wind or the movement of the aircraft. Therefore, these 2 different air pressure values create a gap.
On the traditional type of airplanes, mechanical assemblies are used to transform the force to make the needle of the gauge rotate. On the other hand, modern type of airplanes featured with the latest computer and the fly-by-wire tech. This allow the pilot to get the information by the calculation made by the computer. It also decrease the existence of error which happen more on traditional gauge deu to mechanial components.
But there are still some factors that keep the gauge to provide correct information to pilots. The most common type of factors is when both entrances of pitot-static system are blocked by ice or any other forms of water. This situation avoid the air to get into the equipment, consequently influences the accuracy of the value. Hence, it's important to turn on the de-icing system to evaporate the water and keep the pipe unobstructed.
Next time, I'll write about different type of speeds that used in aviation.

This is such a high-level topic to write about. Very impressive. Good work!

What do you mean by surrending? Maybe suspending is what you meant? Particularity is quite ok, but maybe i try to give another way of writing.

Some grammar edit. Id say the "transform the force" part is a bit redundant but maybe you meant something to do with creating force?

I remember having to remove the covers of the pitot tubes as a pre-flight check when I was taking flying lessons 20 years ago! Nice writing, it's a complex topic.
