Thoughts on AI tech / ChatGPT as a language learner
I've recently started using Chat GPT, and I believe many people already know about this cutting-edge AI technology.
Personally, I have a positive opinion of it because it's incredibly useful, especially for language learners.
While Google can answer basic questions, Chat GPT takes context from previous conversations into account, which makes a huge difference.
Another great feature of Chat GPT is the ability to refine its output by giving additional commands until you get a satisfying answer.
I find this technology both exciting and frightening at the same time.
In Japan, at least for now, having English skills is an advantage since not many people learn it properly. However, with the advancement of AI technology, English proficiency may no longer be an advantage in the future.
If you currently rely on your language skills to make a living, what will happen to you?
I believe that AI technology will soon cause many replacements in our lives, both favorable and unfavorable.
Corrections made by ChatGPT may not be perfect, but I think they have already reached a level that competes with those made by real people.
I am sure that ChatGPT is already better than some people who only make shallow or mediocre corrections without going in-depth.

It's interesting that you are using AI to correct your English writing. I would of never thought of that.
I don't think that AI is close enough to make people lose their jobs immediately, especially with vocal interpreters. However, I can see it replacing things like mass blogging/news articles and video manuscripts as well as art (drawings and photoshopping.) That is a scary thought coming from a person who writes and draws as a hobby.

Maybe it's not immediately, but we should not underestimate the growing speed of these technologies.

It's frightening to see these technologies doing things that we've spent so much time practicing to get better at, in just a moment. It can make us feel useless.
