Academic essay.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is more important to keep your old friends than it is to make new friends.

It is critically important that we make good relationships with other people. EIther keeping our old friends our endeavor to make new friends has its positive and negative aspects. Personally, I agree that it is better to keep our old friends. I feel this way for two reasons, both of which I will explore in the following essay.

To begin with, when we have old friends for years they may become like a family, therefore they become supportive and your right hand. My personal experience is a compelling illustration of this. Fifteen years ago, I moved with my family to live in Turkey. Day in day out, I met a person that lives in the same neighborhood. We became best friends, and he was also in my school. Years later, we graduated from school and we decided to go to the same college and study the same major. Now our relationship lasts for over fifteen years, so he became very close to me like my brother. We support each other in every task even on our worst days, and I can rely on him for many things that even my real brother couldn't do.

Moreover, these days it is not easy to find or create new friends under the term 'real friends' without interest. My opinion on this matter has been profoundly influenced by my own experience. When I was in college, I used to go by public transport. The college was far from my home, so I tended to wake up three hours earlier. In the second year, my father bought me a car so I can go with it to save time and it's more convenient. At that time, there was a guy that hated me for a long time, and we were not friends we even talk with each other. Suddenly, after I got to the car, he started talking with me and telling me that he is feeling guilty for what he did, and he wants to be my friend.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that keeping our old friends is much better than making new friends. That is because, a friend who can last with us for years and become close to us, is a loyal friend. Moreover, many people nowadays want to keep in touch with you only for their benefit.

Feedback

Your writing is quite good! I only noticed a few grammar mistakes, and your storytelling is well done.

In terms of the academic essay, I also think you should include a little more about the reason why the mean guy wanted to be your friend. How was becoming your friend to his benefit? Did he want to be your friend because you had a car? Or because he wanted your help in a class? If you provide an example of this, it strengthens your argument that new friends only want to become friends for their own self-interest. :)
