The overwhelming waves and the deluge that destroyed everything in its path are also vividly described in the Epic of Gilgamesh from ancient Mesopotamia and in the Koran.
The dramatic rise in sea levels thousands of years ago has become part of our collective memory.
Noah was a righteous man; he walked with God.
He had three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth.
