Feedback
As other commenters have mentioned, we really need more context to correct this sentence. When I first read “but for” at the beginning of the sentence, I assumed it meant “except for / were it not for,” as in “But for the excessive humidity, it might have been a pleasant day,” so I had to read your sentence a couple times before I could make sense of it. But if you had included more context, such as the sentence that precedes yours, then I probably wouldn’t have been confused.

It sounds a little awkward. Perhaps something like: "But for some other people, their time in prison does not change them."
But some people won't change in prison and leave as they previously were. ¶
OR¶
But for some other people, therey won’'t be any changes between them before going to prison and after leaving prison.change from their previous ways before prison once they leave it.
It looks like your sentence requires context to actually understand. Like you're explaining a story where some people change and some people don't after experiencing prison. It starts in the middle of the "story" rather than just a stand-alone sentence.
But I was able to grasp the meaning of the sentence, it just needs to be made clearer.
