The tuoche was mainly used to transport farm tools. Since we didn't have any vehicles at that time, how could we take them into fields? Every time farmers needed to plow the land, they put plows and rakes on it and let horses or cows pull it into the fields. Apart from this, I don't think it had any use because it is too primitive and simple.
In the link, I found a picture which I did see in my village. A people, a simple wooden plow and a cow or horse, which was how we plow the land, as well as how we sow.
Sometimes, some people would help the cow to pull because just one cow doesn't have enough strength. But I didn't do that because back then I was just a kid.

I think you are referring to 拖车 or 拖車, right?
It is better to write "tuo che" with two words, just as there are also two Chinese characters. You could also include the Chinese characters in your sentence to help the reader understand it is a foreign word. E.g. "The tuo che (拖车) was mainly...". It depends on who your reader is - if they already know the word "tuo che", etc.
If you write "tuoche" as one word, it looks very much like the English word "touche", so some people might think you have mis-spelled it and will get confused.
