I went to Mount Kinpo two days ago, starting in the morning. It took me 7 hours to complete the 30-kilometer round trip, walking and jogging. At the top of the mountain, there was a Shinto shrine that had been rebuilt after being destroyed in the big Kumamoto Earthquake 8 years ago.
As I was about to throw a 100-yen coin and pray, I suddenly heard a loud noise: "Guuuueeeeeeeeeennnnnn!" In front of me was a sacred area, but a janitor had just started cleaning the floor of the holy place with a large vacuum cleaner. Gueeeeeeeeeeen! The sound was so loud that I wondered whether I should stop praying and wait until the cleaning was finished. However, I decided not to stop and continued praying.
Then I took a rest besides the shrine.
Even after five minutes, I could still hear the sound of cleaning!

You wouldn't capitalize the word earthquake.

I think what you wrote is perfectly fine. I just think these changes could make it feel a little more natural.

Congrats on finishing the 30-km trip! I'm sorry your praying was interrupted by cleaning 😂
